Scotch Plains is accessible from Interstate 78 in Watchung, and Berkley Heights, the garden Sate Parkway in Clark, and Interstate 287 in Edison Township. New Jersey Transit’s Raritan Valley Line bisects Scotch Plains. The town is very conveniently located. Newark Liberty Airport is approximately 14 miles east of Scotch Plains which is best reached via Route 22. The airport is also accessible via New Jersey Transit train by transferring from the Raritan Valley Train to the North Corridor Line at Newark Penn Station.
Ponderosa Park is a beautiful 20 acre facility open to the public at 1600 Cooper Road, Scotch Plains which offers tons of fun. The Scotch Plains-Fanwood YMCA also has a bunch of activities for you. The Y has 2 pools, and offers yoga, Zumba, pilates, many many more classes. There is also a 12 week Live Strong program; it is a free program offering social and physical activities to those affected by cancer. Parking will never be a issue, since the Y offers plenty of parking spots. A really convenient program at the Y is the Before and After School Program. Working parents are able to drop their kid off at the Y before school. Then, the children go to school and after school are brought back to the Y where they are picked up by their parents.

You won’t find leprechauns running around here, but you will find an attentive staff serving magnificent food and drinks in an comfortable, friendly atmosphere.
The Stage House Inn also on Park Ave is the place to be. The Stage House offers live music Friday and Saturday, endless ravioli on Mondays, Table-side Magic on Thursdays with Will Fern and Friends, and much much more. Children in Fanwood attend the wonderful Scotch Plains - Fanwood School District. The district consists of 6 elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.
Fanwood has a cozy, small town feel. Fanwood is the type of town where everyone knows their neighbors, and new comers are welcomed into the neighborhood. People are very festive; no matter what the occasion is - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas the town is always in the spirt and decorated. This is certainly a town you want to come live in.
